okays.

i shall try to summarise my 3 week stay in thailand so i wont have to repeat it over and over again if anyone asks.

Day One

Upon reaching Nan Airport, we took a sheltered pick-up up the mountain. twas super cold and bumpy. we were cold and hungry and we didnt know how long it would be before we reached the Ban Nam Ree Pattana School. Anyways, it took us FIVE hours to reach the school. Star gazedon our way up. Reached the school at abt 11pm. The teachers served us dinner in one of the classrooms. The food was okay la. Then we were brought to our dorm. It is actually the school's new teacher hostel but they let us sleep in it first. Really nice of them. Furthermore, the dorm had heaters but they are quite screwed la. haha.


Day Two

Mingled with the kids even though we were suppose to have observation of lessons... Our P5 class is rather "angelic". They'd really sit there and listen. Managed to memorise all their names too even though we got some of them wrong until a few days later. hahah. Had to plan and rehearse for our Opening Ceremony item the next day too.


Day Three

Had Opening Ceremony. Think we did a pretty good job with our item. The items the kids put up were darn cute. I wanted to learn the dances. hahahaha. Conducted lessons inthe afternoon. I taught alphabets ! Quite glad they were able to rmb at least a lil of wht i taught. Had dance prac at night !


Day Four - Five

The food gets better every day! A ROI ! Facilitated teaching... Learnt new thai songs... Mass Hokey Pokey and Friendship Dance ! Prepared props for our skit for the campfire ! Im the clever pig in Three Little Pigs !! hahah.


Day Six - Eight

English camp ! Although my group isnt the most enthu one around, we managed to become the overall channas !! :D YAY. hahah. Managed to get to know the other kids who arent in my class better too ! Facilitated my group and was the game master for several games during the camp.
Really fun ! ((: The kids are so sweet la. If you walk by their tents at night, they'll say "Good NIght, I love you, Oli." They'll also offer us their food at meal times cos we are served different dishes. Our campsite's darn pretty too. It looks exactly like a Geog textbook cos there are plantations everywhere.. The kids are rather cheeky when it comes to playing scissors paper stone. hahah. They have all sorts of funny actions. Show yall some time. hah. The campfire was awesome too. Did banana dance and chicken dance, loy krathong etc... Had the various story skits too. Stayed up to star gaze the second night. Saw several shooting stars ! My first. Didnt make any wishes though. Always too slow. haha. Celebrated the King's birthday on the third day. The whole nation carries out some ceremony at 1919 hrs cos it's auspicious. Pretty cool


Day Nine - Twelve

Kicked off Angel and Mortal. Marilyn was my mortal. Think im not a very nice angel cos ive always nth much to offer and i didnt know wht to write. Four days of teaching ! At some points of time, the kids really got on our nerves and they werent "angelic" anymore. We were pissed at them and we really showed it. S o i felt bad whern i swore i saw some of the guys tear.


Day Thirteen

Had some Values Workshop in the morning. Had to give our views on certain issues pertaining to the trip and other student related issues in skl... The discussion was good in the sense tht it allowed me to know how my teammates' minds more or less function. hahah. Quite interesting.. after lunch, we had F&E... Went to the provision shops nearby to get chips. they are tasty and uber addictive. hahaha. Carried out eight and a half hours of Life Journey at 3 pm. ech and everyone of us told our life journey and significant events tht happened.


Day Fourteen

Went up to the musuem for the Opening Ceremony and they were celebrating Constitution Day or sth like tht. Had this whole communist thingy going ard. Found Lays chips with fantastic flavours like Lemon ! hahah.


Day Fifteen

Dance prac ! Treasure Hunt ! We had to take photos of whtever we thought would answer the clues the teachers gave us. so we got to explore the village a lot. results were realeased on our last night in bangkok and my group won !! hahaha. YAY. Anyways, had to be involve in the skit for our closing ceremony. I had to act like a frigging ah lian. YUCK. Really kao my kungfu kays. aiyo ! Cannot imagine myself... dont wish to do so too... i only have one line which i had to keep repeating : "Su-ayee mai?"


Day Sixteen

Last full teaching day. Carried out our own treasure hunt. Teamed with Dalika and Rungpiphop! Made props for our class' closing ceremony item too. Dance prac... Skit rehearsal... Final debrief. Twas led by Alvin and it was like a workshop. Very inspirational and motivating. I was able to thank anybody i wanted openly and listening to people thanking you... neat.


Day Seventeen

Last official day in BNR. Practised our class item and gave out gifts to the kids of P5. hugged each and every single one of them. All the girls in the class, us included, cried. They offered to sing us some song too. Made them cry even more. The guys dont cry at all. hah. And they are very shy about hugs. Hahaha. Had our closing ceremony in the new classroom. There was a prayer session at the start of the ceremony followed by performances. After the kids performed, we did our skit. The rest did "At The Beginning" while myself and some others went to change into our cultural costumes. Managed to change in time for the dance ! It was good (accdg to ms chan) !! DEE MAK MAK !! ahahah. YAY. I had to do some impromptu intro to the four races in sgp. Think they dno wht i was talking abt. haha. Oh wells. Did our class items and had a photo taking session with the various classes and teachers of BNR. Tanwa gave me a bouquet of flowers !! He had it all nicely bundled up. He's my favourite student ! Darn sweet! Had a farewell party tht night. Twas really a party with karaoke and all. Hahaha. We even had dessert, chips, nuts, soft drinks and salad !!


Day Eighteen

woke up in the wee hours of the morn to spring clean the dorm. freezing cold i tell you. BRRRR. oh, you could also see the moon moving. Really cool. hahah. After breakfast we started to load up onto our pickups. Some of the kids came to send us off. They cried. They made us cry too. Dalika ran all the way to skl in her home clothes to pass us flowers. It means tht she had to run home to change into her skl u to attend skl tht day. Another FIVE hour ride down the mountain but the view was magnificent !! Took a flight to Bangkok. Went to Siam Square and Patpong to shop. The bargirls in Patpong are fat and disgusting la. all bikini clad with no figure, just fats. eee.


Day Nineteen

Went to Wat Arun and the Grand Palace. Headed down to Nectec for wht seemed like a press conference. We had lunch there too. F&E... too sjp to talk abt it. let's just say i went sight seeing with Peiqi Jeremy and Alvin. Went to MBK to walk for a while before going to Sala Daeng to shop a lil more and meet the rest. Dinner treat from the teachers at this fab restaurant called Mango Tree. Had two servings of rice ! hahah. took an MRT to Lumpini to go to the Suanb Lom Night Bazaar. We should have been guven more time there cos the there have several cool shops there. cos we had a curfew and our final final debrief, we tuk-tuked our way back to the hotel feeling very worried abt being late for debrief. For Peiqi and myself, we tried all modes of transportation Bangkok offers except the motor-taxi. MADNESS :S Revealed Angel and Mortal. Haha. I guessed my angel ! haahh. After debrief, Shiwei and I bathed and went down to 7-11 to buy chips to eat in the hotel room and brg back to sgp. ahhah. met some freaky guy in the lift. ughh.


Day Twenty

Singapore !!!! Bought perfume at Changi ! YAY. ahaha
